Apple Day – Sunday 21st October 2007
Home News Site Map
Fantastic Fundraising Fun!
"What a great day – I never knew apples could taste this good!" commented one young visitor to the Apple Day event held in the park’s Apple Orchard to mark national Apple Day. The event attracted over 200 visitors on a fine October afternoon.
Visitors were able to sample and take home apples from the wide variety of trees that grow in the ancient Apple Orchard. CIP Rangers were on hand to answer apple related questions as well as providing a large display of the history of the orchard and its apple varieties.
The Friends ran a bookstall and a hook-a-frog game for the children. With the proceeds we have been able to purchase a substantial number of apple trees, in consultation with the Rangers, which will be planted in the orchard in due course.
